Paradigm 522/722

"The Paradigm is a very good-looking pump...I am completely satisfied with Paradigm 512 and recommend it to all potential pump-users. It looks good, is small, light and provides many useful functions. It is ideal for children because of very precise dosage, and it has never let me down." Diabetes Index

"So far I love it, but it is also my first pump. The main complaint I have about it is the lack of different sizes of insulin tubing." Cody Turner

pump and sensor

You will not regret getting this pump

User Review

Pros I just received the remote sensor and have used it for one week. It is a great tool. The acuracy of the blood glucose readings are good, I really like the ability to look at bs trends and can make adjustments to fix highs and lows. Because I worry about low blood sugars and reactions, i really like the pump notifications for low readings... This is really a great pump.
Cons Not much to complain about. I've had this pump for over ten years and have been very pleased with the pump and the medtronic company. They are very customer friendly and helpfull.
Recommendation A Great Pump, i would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to have better control of their diabetes.

Paradigm 722 with Sensor

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
If you are just lookinig into Pump Therapy for the first time, congratulations! It is without a doubt the best way to take insulin. Consider all the various models and ask a ton of questions before you commit. Every step of the process should be explained in great detail... Don't make a decision until you know it all.

User Review

Pros The fact that the sensor is built right into this pump makes for less luggage, which is really nice. The pump itself rests comfortably on the reputation of Medtronic/Minimed, which has for decades made a great product. Good customer support (although you might wait on hold, you'll always get a live person who knows what they are talkinig about, and I have always gotten results when I have had to call).
Cons Proprietary infusion sets only. The signal strength of the transmitter to the pump is weak, I cannot wear the pump on the opposite side of my body from where the transmitter is inserted or I get "Weak Signal" alarms. In comparing the recommended boluses for corrections when Insulin is OnBoard, Medtonic products seem to advise higher doses of insulin. This can be chancey when BGs are low.
Recommendation With the exception of addinig an antennae for the sensor, the Medtronic technology for pumping hasn't changed since 2002 when they launched the Paradigm platform. Not to say that it isn;t a great product with a good company behind it. But, there are others who have made more advanced software that re worth looking at.
