"I prefer the lancet cap on the Contour meter. The cap lays straight before I take it off, and sideways when I push the needle into it after use. I can instantly look at a lancet and know if I've used it or not, even if I've jumbled them together or dropped my case and sent some flying. I keep my sharps container at home, so it's not unusual to have a mix of lancets in the case." Diabetic in Calgary

NOT the best

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I called their customer service, walked through all their steps and was told my machine was fine and functional DESPITE getting an error code while going through the steps. The error code was for an "upside down or backwards strip" when I can assure you the strip was neither. I have had this machine give me an erroneous reading of 30 points higher than my blood sugar was at that time. The CS person told me this was my fault for re-testing so quickly... I am sorry, but if your fasting glucose was 30 points higher than normal, would you not retest? I am going back to my old meter.

User Review

Pros Um, it has a nice shape?
Cons Widely varying test results
Sample size larger than others readily available today
You cannot add to sample if not sufficient, resulting in wasted strips
Customer service not at all helpful
Recommendation I have had this machine for about 2 weeks. It was a replacement to my FreeStyle Light that was forced upon me by my insurance HMO. It is NOT as accurate at all, the sample size needed is much more than others on the market (like the FreeStyle) and it will not allow you to add any more blood if the sample size is too small.

Most accurate meter I have used

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
I would recommend this meter, but also, I think that people should get advice as to how to test correctly. I have not found another meter on the market that works as well as this one. The True2go meter is a great one to just take along with you. But it does not give you a 30 day average, which the Bayer meter does.

User Review

Pros I have the acensia contour meter by bayer. This meter reads only 10 points different than my blood test results from the hospital. Im not sure why others are having problems. You cannot test on the same finger, after you have just tested as, the other review said. The reason being is that you have already punctured that site. It will give a different reading. I have tried other meters to find that they are off drastically.
Cons I would like the same accuracy in a smaller meter. Other than that I have no problem with this meter. I have used it for several years.
Recommendation I would recommend this meter, but also, I think that people should get advice as to how to test correctly.

Got a bad meter at a bad time to have one

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
This product was supplied by a pharmacy as the product on the formulary of my insurance company as the meter I had been using was no longer on the formulary. I got it just when I was starting my first insulin injections. If I had no experience with glucose testing following this meter's results could have killed me. DO NOT RELY ON THIS METER TILL YOU TEST TO SEE ITS READINGS ARE BOTH CONSISTENT AND ACCURATE! Some readings were over 150 points above the reading on my old meter from the same finger stick. I repeated tests on the same finger sticks and got results that varied over 150 points. I tested strips from two separate containers and tested the strips with two different bottles of control solutions. Both strip samples passed the test on both bottles of control solution.

User Review

Pros It looks pretty if you are into looking at your meter.
Cons I found readings that were at best 100 points over the reading on my other meter (which was checked with a lab) were misleading. I found repeat readings from one finger prick that varied over 150 points in seconds tested my faith in the accuracy of the meter. I tried two samples of test strips which both passed two separate control solutions.
Recommendation This meter makes a nice doorstop
